Sorry to keep you all waiting for the recap on Designer Con 2010 but finally, here it is! I was unable to stay at the event for more than an hour but here are my thoughts so far about D-Con 2010!

First Impression: So after finding the hotel where the event was held and parking my car, I wandered up and down 3 – 4 different floors and couldn’t find where the event was taking place. After asking around, I finally found it. I didn’t see any signs or arrows leading to the location of the event which was quite disappointing. The entrance was small with two banners in the front as you can see in the main picture, nothing fancy. Upon entering the event room, it smelled like feet and body odor but that didn’t stop me from wanting to explore just a little. The event room itself was huge but they only used about 1/2 – 3/4 of the room and left the other part empty. I thought they could have at least added 4 more vendor booths but that’s just my opinion.

Products: A wide variety of vendors were presented at the con from selling toys, t-shirts, books, accessories, and more! One of my favorite vendors was Sleepy Robot 13 and not because my favorite number is 13 (because it is) but I thought their take on designer toys was very cute. Be sure to check them out along with many of the other vendors that were there as well listed on the Designer Con website!

Overall: Even though it was my first time going to Designer Con, I wasn’t very impressed with what was there. It felt like a swap meet without the cheap shirts and fake designer products. I circled (or squared depending on how you want to look at it) the whole place in no more than 15 minutes and was completely bored. I wouldn’t pay $5 to go but I went after 3pm and it was free so no complaints there! I would only come back again this year if they had other events going on aside from shouting out raffle ticket numbers and people yelling things over the microphone that sounded like static to me.
